Safe & Sound Headquarters
Community Engagement | Milwaukee, WI
Safe & Sound, an organization dedicated to building safe, empowered neighborhoods through community engagement and youth leadership, created a new home that reflects both its mission and its future growth. The project involved converting an existing 11,402-square-foot, two-story church into a dynamic mixed-use headquarters. The building serves as a hub for administration, programming, recreation, meetings and events.
DREAM Builders led the architectural transformation, beginning with 3D scanning to document existing conditions and moving through programming, zoning and code analysis, and a complete change-of-use analysis. From there, our team guided the organization through an inclusive design development phase, ensuring the adaptive reuse not only complied with regulatory requirements but also maximizes flexibility for Safe & Sound’s evolving needs.
While integrating modern building systems and coordinating life-safety upgrades, sensitivity was given to preserving the character of the existing structure. DREAM Builders ensured that the final result was a safe, functional, and inspiring headquarters. This facility provides Safe & Sound with a true physical anchor—a place where staff, youth, and community members can gather, collaborate, and continue advancing the organization’s mission of stronger, safer neighborhoods across Milwaukee.
